ATEX Antennas - Armadex OmniX Series
Overview
Armadex offers a range of ATEX certified antennas for safe and reliable wireless connectivity in hazardous areas. Whether you need dual-band Wi-Fi, high-gain single-band coverage or 4G/LTE cellular connectivity, these antennas are designed for use in ATEX Zone 2 (gas explosive atmospheres) and Zone 22 (dust explosive atmospheres).
Who needs ATEX antennas?
Explosion proof wireless infrastructure is a necessity in industries where flammable gases, vapours or combustible dust are present. Typical applications include:
- Oil and gas refineries and offshore platforms
- Chemical and pharmaceutical production
- Food and beverage facilities (alcohol fumes, sugar and herbal ingredients)
- Warehouses handling plant materials or chemicals
In these environments standard wireless equipment cannot be used safely. ATEX certified antennas ensure your wireless network meets regulatory requirements without compromising on performance.
Smart installation: antenna only, standard access point
Only specific locations within an industrial plant are classified as hazardous. If the distance from the antenna to the access point is no more than 25 metres, there is a highly cost-effective solution: mount the ATEX antenna in the hazardous area and connect it by coaxial cable to a standard access point installed in the safe area.
The OmniX range
Three categories of ATEX antenna cover different connectivity needs. The OmniX-DL24/50 R1 and R2 are available from stock. The OmniX-24 8dBi and OmniX-4G LTE are available on request - contact us for lead times and minimum order quantities.
Dual-band Wi-Fi (OmniX-DL24/50 R1 and R2)
The right choice for most Wi-Fi installations. Both models operate on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz simultaneously, making them compatible with modern dual-band access points. The R1 is the more compact option, while the R2 is slightly larger with updated performance characteristics. Both are available from stock.

High-gain single-band Wi-Fi (OmniX-24 8dBi)
Choose this where maximum range is the priority and your network runs exclusively on 2.4 GHz. With 8 dBi peak gain it outperforms the dual-band models in range, and is well suited to large open spaces, long corridors or environments with significant signal attenuation.

4G/LTE cellular (OmniX-4G LTE)
For applications requiring cellular connectivity rather than a local Wi-Fi network. It covers all major LTE frequency bands and is a direct ATEX certified replacement for standard GSM antennas in Zone 2 and Zone 22 environments.
