PVK350 Photovoltaic Test Kit
The PVK350 photovoltaic kit offers essential tools for solar professionals. Included is the Megger DCM1500s solar clamp meter, PVM210 irradiance meter, and specialised solar test leads, neatly organised in a durable hard case.
The pocket-sized PVM210 combines solar detection and metering in one unit for convenient single-handed operation, perfect for elevated or sloped work areas. With the DCM1500S 1500 A AC/DC solar clamp meter, you can test current within each ‘string’ of a large solar array without cable disconnection. It also features a 2000 V DC voltage range, resistance, capacitance, frequency, and Bluetooth capabilities, compatible with the Megger Link App for remote measurements and logging. Additionally, the kit includes two pairs of MC4 solar test leads with standard 4 mm plugs and adapters for older panel styles.
The volt sensor is not detecting live circuit.
The Volt Seek LED indicates the electric field. If the Volt Seek LED is not on, voltage could still be present. Verify the battery level and on know live circuit.
Hazardous voltages may still be present when the LCD reading is very low in HFR mode.
The High Frequency Rejection (HFR) mode uses a low pass filter when taking AC measurements. The cut-off frequency (-3 dB point) of the low pass filter is 800 Hz. Verify the voltage again without HFR mode activated.
Readings are not automatically storing.
If Manual Saving is selected, readings can be stored by pressing the Hold/Zero button when in Log mode. The sample location is displayed on each button press. All stored data is saved until switching to data logger mode or executing the clear function.
Readings appear to be inaccurate.
First step should always be to check the correct function is selected, secondly check the batteries, and replace as soon as the low battery indicator appears to avoid false readings. Refer to the user guide on how to replace the batteries.
Measuring DC current is ± a few milliamps where I expect it to be.
It's advisable to use the zero function when you measure DC current to provide more accurate results. This is because this function removes DC offset from the measurement.
Can I mount the PVM210 solar power meter?
Yes, it features a universal camera thread, so you can fix it in place to deliver constant readings from a single location.
What category rating is the Clamp meter?
CAT II 1000 V AC ,1500 V DC CAT III 1000 V, CAT IV 600 V
Can the clamp meter measure true RMS?
Yes, the DCM1500s is capable of measuring True RMS.
What is the current rating, and can you measure DC currents?
The DCM1500s will measure AC and DC currents up to 1500 A.
What jaw size does the clamp meter have?
Jaw size is a key consideration. Too small and it won't fit around the conductors you wish to measure. Too large, and you may not get it to fit into the area that the conductors are in. The DCM1500S comes with a 42 mm diameter ideal for PV installations.
What can you do with the Megger Link App?
Megger Link is designed to allow you to remotely view a linked instruments displayed values in a digital and graphical format, start a data capture.
Where do I get the Megger Link App does it come inside the box or do I download from somewhere?
The Megger Link App is designed for Android and iOS smart phone or tablets. It can be downloaded from the Apple App store or the Google play store.
What voltage can you measure up to?
The DCM1500S solar clamp meter has been designed to be used on electrical systems and equipment, including solar/photovoltaic installations where, there is a need to measure current, volts, resistance, and frequency. The DCM1500S can measuring up to 2000 V DC and 1500 V AC (using the PVHV Leads).
Does the kit come with calibration certificates?
The PVM210 comes with a calibration certificate in the box and the DCM1500s end of line testing ensure it meets the standard and performance expected out of the box. If you require calibration Megger operates fully traceable calibration and repair facilities alternatively calibration can be taken place by a worldwide network of approved repair and calibration companies to offer excellent in-service care for your Megger products. To find your local Authorised Service Centre email Megger on ukrepairs@megger.com and give details of your location
What applications can I use the PVK350?
The PVK350 kit is designed for solar/photovoltaic sector providing you with the basic electrical tools used during the installation and maintenance of a solar/PV installation.
Are batteries included with this kit?
Yes, both the DCM1500s and PVM210 come complete with two batteries, so you can hit the ground running right away.
